Rare and remarkably intimate image of the Spanish dictator by the acclaimed photographer Dmitri Kessel (1902 - 1995), whose work for LIFE magazine won him international renown. Kessel writes in ON ASSIGNMENT (p. 191): "Franco had invited me to photograph him during a private duck and pheasant shoot with some of his friends." Very good.
