Book Description Byrd Printing, Atlanta, 1902. Hardcover. Book Condition: Good. First Edition. 8vo. 400pp. Frontis photograph of James Etheldred Williams. Illustrated. Green cloth hardcover with black imprinted title and design on front cover and gilt title on spine. Front hinge cracked. A few pencil notes written inside. Some spots of wear to the green cloth. Some old newpaper clippings relating to Atlanta history placed inside book. Association copy. Inscribed by W L Calhoun to Mrs Lollie Belle Wylie by the President of the Atlanta Pioneer Citizens Society W L Calhoun. Calhoun (1837-1908) was born in Decatur Georgia and was the son on Atlanta Mayor James Calhoun who surrendered Atlanta to the Union during the Civil War. Calhoun was Captain of Company K of the 42nd Georgia Infantry. He surrendered at Vicksburg in 1863. He also fought in the Atlanta Campaign and was wounded at the Battle of Resaca. Calhoun was elected Mayor of Atlanta in 1879. Mrs. Wylie was an Atlanta author. Bookseller Inventory # 668
