9 issues from 1941, Feb, March, April absent. Minimal wear to these 16 page, 5.25" x 7.75" pamphlets published monthly by the Port of Oakland, tan card covers decorated with an attractive two-tone etching of a sailor turning an enormous ship's wheel. 2-staple binding secure, clean and unmarked inside and out, illustrated with abundant etchings and black/white photos. Articles include information about both the city's harbors and shipping facilities and the Oakland Municipal Airport, as well as considerable discussion of Army/Navy activities and National training and defense programs. The December 1941 issue offers some sketchy comments on changing circumstances resulting from the Pearl Harbour bombing. A sampling of articles: "Defense Training Program"; Oakland's International Trade"; "Peruvian General Inspects Civilian Pilot Training"; "Douglas Transports Set New Transpacific Record"; "Defense Stamps at the Airport"; "Bean Cleaner in New Quarters", [a business that relocated to another site when the army condemned and appropriated the Port's Terminal C]; "Federal Funds Requested for Oakland Airport Improvement", the latter illustrated with a full page aerial photo. Many other Port facilities - and the Pardee Dam site - appear in aerial photos, a practice probably regretted by the editors in hindsight following the events of December 7.
