Barrie, J(ames) M(atthew). [Hugh Thomson, illustrator]. QUALITY STREET. London: Hodder & Stoughton, [n.d., but 1913]. 22 fine illustrations by Thomson, each with integral paper guard. First Trade Edition, a FINE copy with very little actual wear to the boards (just a tiny bit of fade to the spine, barely noticeable) in original publishers decorated purple-gray cloth, decoratively stamped in gilt. Inner hinges beginning to crack, some of the pages a little tender and over-opened, one paper guard expertly re-inserted but a very beautiful copy. INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR on the half-title in the year of publication. "To ______ /from her friend/J. M. Barrie/Nov 1913." These lovely Thomson editions are quite easy to find in general but RARELY DOES ONE SEE AN EXAMPLE INSCRIBED BY BARRIE HIMSELF. Source for the 1937 Oscar-nominated Katharine Hepburn film. Housed in a custom quarter-morocco slipcase. Bookseller Inventory # 001823
