Internally: light crease to top corner of half title page, tissue guard to colour frontispiece all but lost, occasional creasing to other tissue guards (all of which are titled), tipped in photograph with associated tissue guard loose at p136, some light spotting here and there. Full blue/black leather binding with gilt coat of arms to front cover. Gilt decoration around front & rear cover edges on both outer & inner surfaces. Five raised bands to spine with gilt decoration and titles. Marbled end papers and teg. The author was librarian to Queen Victoria and this is presented as an accurate account of her childhood and youth. Many illustrations & colour frontispiece.
