Book Description Harvard University Press, 1984. Hardcover. Book Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. Hardcover with DJ. Green cloth over boards with gold lettering on the spine and front cover. Green paper DJ with black and white lettering and border. Measures 4.5 x 6.5". Date on the title page is 1984. 627 pages. The volume is in good condition. The binding is strong, though shelf cocked. The corners and crown and foot of the spine are lightly bumped but the covers are quite clean. Book smells slightly of smoke, though rather weakly - I suspect that will air out. The pages inside are clean and unmarked. The DJ is unmarked as well, though a bit rubbed, especially along the edges. Fits snugly to the covers. This is from the Loeb Classical Library series, and contains, like all the volumes in this series, a classical work in the original Greek on the left pages and an excellent English translation on the right pages. This volume is No. 19 in the Loeb Classical Library. Bookseller Inventory # 9-901

Book Description London: William Heinemann (Loeb Classical Library No.19) 1984 Hardcover Reprint 18mo xi,626,8pp ISBN 0-434-99019-1 (UK) 0-674-99022-6 (US), 1984. Hardcover. Book Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. Fine original olive cloth, in Near Fine DW. Contains introduction, bibliography, text in Greek with English translation on facing pages, index. Quintus was a poet who lived at Smyrna some four hundred years after Christ. His work, in fourteen books,is a bold and generally underrated attempt in Homer's style to complete the story of Troy from the point at which the Iliad closes. Quintus tells the stories of Penthesilea, the Amazonian queen; Memnon, leader of the Ethiopians; the death of Achilles; the contest for Achilles' arms between Ajax and Odysseus; the arrival of Philoctetes; and the making of the Wooden Horse. The poem ends with the departure of the Greeks and the storm which by the wrath of heaven shattered their fleet. Bookseller Inventory # 17011
