1st Printing. 1 pages. Published in 1965. Rare Ricky Flynn and Walter Kundzicz/Champion Studios collectible item. An original vintage color photographic print of Ricky Flynn, the youngest and one of the most good-looking male models discovered by Walter Kundzicz, as photographed in 1965 in his studio, in one of Champion's most beautiful and iconic portraits. The print measures 3.5 X 5 inches and has white borders. It is encased in a protective plastic sheet. The photograph shows Ricky Flynn posing fully-dressed as a cowboy, with a (phallic) prop-gun in hand, and shot with saturated studio light. While Walter Kundzicz is best-known for his pioneering male nudes, he also did straight portrait photography alongside the former, often harking back to Cowboys and Indians, the mythical figures of the American frontier. You have to hand it to Kundzicz and other pioneering photographers like Bruce of LA to see the very violent encounter between Native and White Americans irreverently and aesthetically (rather than historically and moralistically). The American painter and multi-media artist Richard Prince, whose appropriations of the Marlboro Man established his preeminent position in contemporary culture, has used Walter Kundzicz's original Cowboy portraits for his work. Ricky Flynn is the prototypical All-American youth. He anticipates by about two decades the model/stars of the reigning American photographer of male beauty, Bruce Weber. This is the genuine article, an absolute "must-have" collectible, not just memorabilia, item for Ricky Flynn, Walter Kundzicz/Champion, and male erotic art photography collectors. This original vintage color photographic print is now collectible. As far as we know, this is the only copy of the print available online, is eminently suitable for framing, and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright, a pristine beauty. Please note: Kundzicz took very few photographs of Ricky Flynn, and this is the only one we have found of him in Cowboy attire. Champion Studio prints and digital copies available online have little or no collectible value. This print is a beauty, and as such, an accessible and lovely alternative. A rare copy thus. One of the iconic American male models of the 20th century. A fine print. (SEE ALSO OTHER JIM STRYKER, TUCK POWELL, JOE DALLESANDRO, AND BRUCE OF LOS ANGELES TITLES IN OUR CATALOG).
