A trusted Protestant counsellor of Elizabeth I, he and John Cheke were the great classical scholars of the time in England. Very firm copy, moderate soiling to covers, modest age-toning, some text underlining in an early hand confined to leaves at center of text. Contemporary full vellum with wallet edges.
