178 p. + index. Mrs. Walker spearheaded the research for this volume, which she called a contribution to the centennial history of the State of Illinois. She credits various libraries, Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.) chapters and members, and an officer of the Sons of the American Revolution (S.A.R) of California for encouragement, research assistance, and help in publication of the volume. The soldiers are listed alphabetically by county, with a complete alphabetical index at the end of the book. As available, brief biographical data on each soldier may include place and date of birth, place from whence he commenced military service, major battles or honors, date of migration to Illinois, date of death, place of burial, etc. There are black-and-white frontispiece portraits of George Washington; Abraham Lincoln; Mrs. Walker; Ella Park Lawrence (Mrs. George A.), and a former state regent of the Illinois D.A.R. and other officers of the organization; several red, white, and blue decorations, and a decorative border drawn by Helen Cappel around each page of the central text. The book is tight and solid with a black cloth hard cover, lightly worn with bumps at extremities; pastedowns inside cover are browned or mottled and the free endpapers are browned. The name of a former owder, Etta Mae Heitmaier, Carlyle, Illinois, is inscribed on the front free endpaper. Bookseller Inventory # 40HW0113
