Book Description Harcourt, Brace & Company, New York, 1954. Boards in Illustrated Jacket. Book Condition: Near Fine. First American Edition. Folio. np, 164 b&w and 16 color illustrations. Text in English. This combined twenty-ninth and thirtieth issue of Teriade's legendary artistic review "Verve" is devoted to reproducing in facsimile a drawing notebook that Pablo Picasso executed in Vallauris from the 28th of November 1953 to the 23rd of February 1954. It was realized under the direction of Teriade, with the master printers Draeger Freres responsible for the heliogravure plates in black and white. The book's sixteen color images were beautifully reproduced photo-lithographically by Mourlot Freres, and are comprised of the front and back covers specially drawn by Picasso, the facing frontispiece and artist-designed title page, two plates interspersed amongst Rebecca West's text, and ten additional plates each with a tissue overlay, as issued. An exceptionally bright, well-preserved example in the publisher's dust jacket and unprinted acetate dustwrapper of this gorgeous undertaking. PLEASE NOTE: Additional shipping costs are required for this item beyond our standard rates due to its weight and value - we will inform you of the applicable amount at time of purchase.
