Title: TIME LIFE CLASSICS OF THE OLD WEST -- all ...
Publisher: Time Life, Alexandria
Publication Date: 1980
Book Condition: Near Fine
Facsimile reprints of the original editions, 1st printings thus. Full genuine leather. All edges gilt. Marbled endpapers. Silk ribbons. Illustrations in each volume calling for them. A complete set of the fine Time-Life Classics of the Old West, 30 titles in 31 volumes. These facsimile editions were later reprinted in simulated leather hardbound, but this is the genuine leather set first issued by Time Life, all volumes being 1st printings. We also mention that many volumes were stated as bound in leather, but some weren't stated as such, yet were (and some of the later printings stated bound in leather, but weren't! Go figure.). All volumes but one with the bookplate that came with the set. The 30 volumes with the plate are signed by the former owner; most are affixed; some loose. All volumes but one with the laid in publisher's historical information sheet germain to the volume, & we have copied that one from another set. It is hard to imagine a more important set of nicely reproduced books encompassing the length & breadth of Western Americana that Time Life decided to reprint. Most volumes in the first editions are obviously quite rare. Titles: Adams, Log of a Cowboy", Allen, "Adventures with Indians and Game", Bourke, "On the Border With Crook", Carrington, "Ab-Sa-Ra-Ka", Cody, "The Life of Buffalo Bill", Conard, "'Uncle Dick' Wootton", Cremony, "Life Among the Apaches", DeBarthe, "The Life and Adventures of Frank Grouard", Delano, "Life on the Plains and at the Diggings", Dellenbaugh, "The Romance of the Colorado River", Dimsdale, The Vigilantes of Montana", Duval, "The Adventures of Big-Foot Wallace", Garrard, "Wah-To-Yah and the Taos Trail", Garrett, "The Authentic Life of Billy the Kid", Hamilton, "My Sixty Years on the Plains", Hobbs, "Wild Life in the Far West", Inman, "The Old Santa Fe Trail", Irving, "A Tour on the Prairies", Manly, "Death Valley in '49", Marcy, "The Prairie Traveler", Marryat, "Mountains and Molehills", Parkman, "The California and Oregon Trail", Olmsted, "A Journey Through Texas", Roosevelt, "Ranch Life and the Hunting-Trail", Ruxton, "Life in the Far West", Siringo, "A Texas Cowboy", Stratton, "Captivity of the Oatman Girls", Summerhayes, "Vanished Arizona", Taylor, "Eldorado, Vol I & II", Twain, "Roughing It". This set is in very good+ to fine condition, with only a handful of volumes with very slight scuffing. This is one T-L set that deserves a solid value for the collector in the years to come.
