About The Herbert Morris Collection
The Herbert Morris Collection is derived from the personal library of the late, award winning poet. His passion for writers who treat the printed word as poetry is reflected in his reading choices. Therefore the two largest segments of the inventory are "Poetry" and "Great Writers". Along with the great poets of the 19th and 20th century, the former group includes signed works by his friends James Merrill, Lynne Sharon Schwartz, Edward Hirsch, David Wojahn and others. The latter group includes collections by James Joyce, Virginia Woolf, D.H. Lawrence, Andre Gide, Henry James, Isak Dinesen and Vladimir Nabokov.
