Synopsis: A great gift for your favorite attorney or law student.
True Tales of Trying Times is a humorous collection of modern day fables based on actual law cases. It exposes some of the follies of the American court system and those who use and abuse it.
The stories reflect the wide range of predicaments created by humans and other non-rational creatures The book is authored by a law professor but is written with wry humor, free of legal jargon. These tales are for everyone: not just lawyers, but people too! The author concludes each fable with a moral drawn from the case, focusing on the humorous side of the litigation. The moral is set forth in verse. Each fable is illustrated by a pen and ink drawing. These fables and their accompanying morals offer an entertaining view of the modern American legal system. True Tales is an attractively designed hardback book and makes a perfect gift for anyone ready to appreciate an ironic look at the illusive quest for justice.
About the Author: Bob Rains had been practicing law for about a decade when he decided to make the world a better place by: 1) leaving private practice, and 2) creating more lawyers. So now he whiles away his days at a university located somewhere in the eastern half of the United States, teaching The Law to eager young liberal arts majors who might otherwise be flipping burgers for a living. After many years, he is still trying to understand his fellow members of the legal profession and why they do the things they do.
Bob Rains is the author of numerous humorous poems mostly with a legal bent which have been published in legal and academic journals and literary reviews.
