Title: Two handwritten postcards and a short letter...
Publication Date: 1981
Book Condition: Near Fine
Signed: Signed by Author(s)
Two plain white postcards (3.5 x 5.5 inches), handwritten and signed by Robert Crumb, dated May 5 and November 18, 1981; and letter on plain white paper (8.5 x 5.5 inches), handwritten and signed by Crumb, dated June 5, 1981. All are addressed to photographer Charles Gatewood, known for his extensive documentation of social protest, alternative culture, celebrity portraits, rock and roll, body modification, and the Wall Street area of lower Manhattan -- his appeal to Crumb is obvious, and Crumb suggests that he turned many of Gatewood's photographs directly into drawings, or at least found much inspiration there. Crumb's distinctive lettering allows him to fit quite a lot of text onto a small surface area, so he effusively praises Gatewood's work, makes a few quips about other photographers, and mentions his "new" magazine WEIRDO. A little age-toning and some light wrinkling along the edges, but near fine overall. Bookseller Inventory # D3811
