1st Printing. 267 pages. Published in 1892. Posthumous collection of the writer's essays. One of the greatest literary works of all time. Limited Edition of 150 numbered copies. The 1892 "Large Paper" Edition, it should not be confused with the regular trade edition published by G. P. Putnam's Sons. The Limited Edition is now rare. A fine binding production: Regular-sized volume format. Rich brown leather boards with marbled paper overboards, gilt page edges, and elaborate gilt design, as bound. Text by Charles Lamb. Edited and arranged by Ernest Dressel North. Matching marbled endpapers. Mounted frontispiece portrait of Charles Lamb from the original drawing by Hancock protected by a glassine overlay. The title page is printed in red and black. Printed on fine, hand-made, archival stock paper in the United States to the highest standards. Without DJ, as re-bound. Presents Charles Lamb's "The Wit And Wisdom of Charles Lamb". Collects the pithy, quotable, and aphoristically brilliant remarks, comments, and more extended reflections of the iconic English literary critic and essayist of the 19th century. A lovely, treasurable book. An absolute "must-have" edition for Charles Lamb collectors. This copy is Number 6, indicated as such on the Front Limitation Page, in red fountain pen. This is an antiquarian title. This is one of a handful of copies still available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright, a beauty. Please note: All of the other copies have major flaws. A rare copy thus. The greatest literary critic and essayist in the English language of the 19th century. A fine collectible copy.
