Synopsis:
The photos collected here were chosen from entries submitted by photographers from more than 15 European countries. The book looks at the lives of women in Ethiopia and Mauritania and is an intimate study of a way of life which appears far removed from the pressures of tea 20th century. Looking at these photographs one can see clearly the traces of an ancient past -- the world of the Queens of Sheba -- with its recognition of the inner strength and power of women. 'Stories of Women' was the winner of the prestigious European Publishers Award for Photography.
