Malevich and Mondrian are specifically isolated, in the introduction, as the first to concentrate "on nothing but the properties intrinsic to painting", and single images by them as well Newman, Reinhardt, Rothko, Ryman, Marden, Martin, etc. are reproduced in this limited edition volume.
