Synopsis:
Unlike other remarkable families of the 19th century, such as the Wordsworths, Brontes, and Rossettis, who did their flourishing in one lifespan, the Yeats have tended to produce creative people from generation to generation -- a heritage which places them firmly in the 20th century. For the first time the family's varying and remarkable talents are brought together in one volume which accompanies the display in the Natinal Gallery of Ireland's new Yeats Gallery, due to open in November 1997. The artistic works and ideas of six members of the family are included: John Butler Yeats; his four children William Butler, Susan (Lily), Elizabeth (Lolly), and Jack Butler; and William Butler's daughter Anne.
