Synopsis:

This illustrated account of U.S. Naval disasters from recent history ranges from the mysterious loss of the World War I collier USS Cyclops to the grounding of the battleship USS Missouri. Also recounted are the raging fires that nearly consumed the aircraft carriers USS Enterprise, USS Constellation, and others. Also featured are the as yet unexplainable losses of the nuclear submarines USS Thresher and USS Scorpion, as well as two of the U.S. Navy's most humiliating disasters: the loss of seven destroyers in Devil's Jaw off the California coast, and the surrender to North Korea of the spy USS Pueblo.
