Synopsis:
This book is based on the book Computer Engineering: Hardware Design (1988) by one of the authors (Mano). The general premise of both books is a combined treatment of logic design, digital system design and computer design basics. The advancing scale of integration of digital electronic circuits and accelerated use of logic synthesis tools have raised much of the digital system design process to increasingly higher levels. Register transfer level treatment of datapaths and controls, including the use of a hardware description language, in now central to industrial (Reduced Instruction Set Computer) has penetrated to the very core of the domain of CISC ( Complex Instruction Set Computer).
