Otl Aicher was an outstanding personality in modern design.
His work since the fifties, since his period at the now legendary Hochschule fur Gestaltung in Ulm, of which he was a co-founder, in the field of corporate design - one only needs to remember his images for Lufthansa and the second German television channel - are major achievements in the visual culture of our times. An integral component of Aicher's work is that it us anchored in a "philosphy of making" inspired by thinkers like Ockham, Kant or Wittgenstein, a philosphy concerned with the prerequisites and aims, the objects and claims, of design.
