This handsomely designed book presents the work of students and teachers from The School for Artistic Photography, Vienna. The presentation of students' work alongside their instructors' reflects this school's strong emphasis on personal interaction within a community of contemporary artists, craftsmen, and mentors. These original photographs attest to this one-year program's focus on taking creative risks and defining an independent artistic vision. Accompanying each artist's work is a personal statement about their experience at the school and their philosophical approach to photography. Some of the artist-teachers whose work is included are: Nan Goldin, Alfred Hrdicka, Martin Kippenberger, Peter Kubelka, Herman Nitsch, Franz West, and Nick Wapplington.
