Where does your dog stand on AbeBooks?

So the American Kennel Club released their 2006 registration statistics, and the big news? One: the Labrador Retriever was the most popular dog in the US - and has been since 1991. And two: the tiny Yorkshire Terrier has pawed its way up to number two on the list, sending the German Shepherd and Golden Retriever a bit further into the kennel.

But are Labs number one on AbeBooks? A quick keyword search shows how the top 5 on the AKC list rank in terms of book popularity:

German Shepherds - 2908 books
Golden Retrievers - 2448 books
Labrador Retrievers - 2261 books
Yorkshire Terriers - 1572 books
Beagle - 1319 books

And interestingly, if this wasn’t a purebred-only list, good ol’ mutts would come in second with 2356 books.
