The Book Guys talk Science Fiction on February 15
As many of you may know, we have some great friends on an National Public Radio program called The Book Guys which is hosted by Allan Stypeck (owner of Second Story Books in Washington DC) and Mike Cuthbert. Each week they feature a specific author or subject, have special guests, talk about books and book collecting, and at the end of the show they perform rare book valuations (the Treasures in your Attic segment which AbeBooks supports).
On February 15, the Book Guys will be doing a feature on collecting Science Fiction and Fantasy as well as valuing a number of books from AbeBooks visitors. The books to be valued will be:
1) Who Goes There by John W. Campbell – Signed second edition (1951)![]()
2) Lud-in-the-Mist by Hope Mirrlees (1927)
3) Hard To Be A God for a Dollar by Strugatsky brothers – first edition (1974)
4) The Complete Works by H.G Wells – Atlantic edition from Unwin (1925) #243 of 620
5) Travels into several remote nations of the world by Lemuel Gulliver 1747 – 5th edition
6) Starship Troopers by Robert Heinlein (1959)
7) Synthetic Men of Mars by Edgar Rice Burroughs (1940)

It should make interesting radio. If you want to listen, the show is syndicated across 45 stations in North America (see the full list on the Book Guys website), but you can also hear the show on the Internet. This show will be posted on Feb 15. You can find it at www.bookguys.com
By the way, it’s not to late to get on the show if you’ve got a science fiction or fantasy book that you want to get valued. Drop an email to me, Scott, at slaming@abebooks.com. Include a few details about the book and a telephone number.
