Grumpy Old Bookman scales back his blogging
I saw a rather sad message from Michael Allen this morning. Michael is better known as the Grumpy Old Bookman and he is quite easily the UK’s best blogger about the worlds of books and publishing. He announced that he would be blogging far less in the future so he could work on other projects.
Michael has been a prolific blogger for the past three years and I’ve been visiting his blog most days since joining AbeBooks - he has lots of book news and blended it with plenty of sensible comment and opinions. Put it this way, I have to stay abreast of the news because of my job (public relations manager) and each day I visit lots of sites for my daily news fix. In terms of the UK, I go to places like bbc.co.uk, The Times, Daily Telegraph and The Guardian… and the Grumpy Old Bookman’s blog. So I’m rather sad to hear that he wouldn’t be blogging on a daily basis.
Last month, Michael was interviewed by AbeBooks and we were intending to put the interview in February’s Avid Reader e-newsletter but that isn’t going to work considering his announcement today.
However, you can read the interview here. It’s a fascinating insight into the thoughts and motivations of a book blogger.
