I’m a cat owner, or rather I’m owned by a cat. Seeing our brand of choice on the recent pet food recall list did make me nervous - I mean for as much as I curse the little furball for her 5 a.m. disruptions, I don’t want anything bad to happen to her. While I do confess she is a bit of a spoiled feline, I’m not over-the-top and the thought of cooking food for the cat didn’t even cross my mind. Why would it? I don’t exactly enjoy cooking for myself so why would I do it for her?! But with the recent happenings and the awareness that there aren’t regulations for pet food in Canada, I am rethinking this.Â
According to an article in the New York Times this morning,  sales of pet food cookbooks are going up. I hadn’t really thought about there being cookbooks of this nature. Sure, I knew that people did cook for pets but I didn’t think that there would be enough material to create cookbooks. But there are numerous out there! Some that this article mention are:

 The NY Times article also mentions Ann Martin’s Food Pets Die For, an expose of the pet food industry and the dubious ingredients pet foods contain. I also disovered Martin has written an update entitled, Protect Your Pet: More Shocking Facts .
Now if some of the recipes are good for both cat and Kat, I might be onto a good thing for both of us!
