The Book of Chameleons by Angloan author Jose Eduardo Agualusa has won this year’s Independent Foreign Fiction award. The prize celebrates books that have been translated into English and published in the past year. It’s a tale narrated by a lizard about a man who sells peoples’ pasts. If you don’t like your personal history, just buy a new one.
