Pasty firm sponsors author

The best story of the day - a Cornish pasty manufacturer, Ginsters, is sponsoring an author. The author is Ian Holloway, manager of Plymouth Argyle FC - well known to UK sports fans for his incredibly funny quotes to the media.

There’ll be tastings at his book signings and the book will be promoted on three million pasty packets. Wow, a combination of books, pasties and sport - that’s heaven to me.

This is one of Holloway’s best quotes following an ugly win over Chesterfield…

“To put it in gentleman’s terms if you’ve been out for a night and you’re looking for a young lady and you pull one, some weeks they’re good looking and some weeks they’re not the best. Our performance today would have been not the best looking bird but at least we got her in the taxi. She weren’t the best looking lady we ended up taking home but she was very pleasant and very nice, so thanks very much, let’s have a coffee.”

I also like this one…

“You can say that strikers are very much like postmen: they have to get in and out as quick as they can before the dog starts to have a go.”

And this one….

“I’m as chuffed as a badger at the beginning of the mating season.” (Translation for North Americans - chuffed means pleased)
