A troubled marriage, illicit loves, a spooky Cornish house?… Daphne du Maurier’s life had all the ingredients of one of her own stories.
You get don’t many people called Daphne these days. I’ve not read Rebecca but I have read Jamaica Inn, which I picked up after a holiday in Devon and Cornwall. We drove past the real Jamaica Inn and I thought it looked an interesting place - especially with its setting on Bodmin Moor. A first edition of either book doesn’t come cheap.
