40 years of the Booker Prize
If you haven’t read anything since 1993 don’t bother catching up now, the Man Booker community has copped out and voted Salman Rushdie’s Midnight’s Children “The Best of the Bookers” for the second time (a similar contest was held in 1993 for the 25th anniversary of the prize).
In truth I haven’t read Midnight’s Children, and it could very well be the best of the lot. Seriously though, giving the best of the best prize to the same book 15 years later makes for a bit of a boring contest.
Plus the readers don’t even agree, our poll reveals the truth!
