Blindness by José Saramago

The movie version of Blindness opens in the US on October 3. Of course, the film is based on the book by José Saramago and is the story of a doctor’s wife who is unaffected by an epidemic of sudden blindness. She tries to protect her husband by following him into an inhumane quarantine area. First American editions of Blindness are pretty collectible.

Saramago won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1998 and Blindness remains his most acclaimed work. He also has a new book coming in the next week, Death with Interruptions.
