CBC News reports that a first edition of Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery sold at auction Friday morning for $8,125 USD. First edition copies of the first book in the Anne of Green Gables series are scarce as the first run of the book in 1908 was small.
Earlier this year, Anne of Green Gables, 100th Anniversary Edition was released. This centenary edition emulates the original copy of the book.
Since publication, Anne of Green Gables has sold over 50 million books worldwide.
Two AbeBooks booksellers are offering the First Edition, Fourth Impression copy of Anne of Green Gables.
Hello,
My wife and I was cleaning out a house and found Anee of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery. It is a 1908 First Impression and First Edition with a chocolate or brown cover. We are looking to sell the book and is interested in what we should do.
I am lookking forward to any question or replys.
Thank you for any help.

We recommend that you take the book to a qualified rare bookseller. Use the ABAA site to find booksellers in your local area. There are lots in Maine.

I just saw on the Sotheby’s website in New York that they are selling a first edition of Anne of Green Gables on Dec 13,2011 it is estimated at $18,000-$25,000 USD. They are selling 5 rare Montgomery books and a 3 page letter written by her with a signed photo. The estimate is $8,000-$12,000 USD on the letter and photo. The also have a rare Anne of Avonlea in the in dustjacket and Sotheby’s says only 2 copies in the jacket have sold in 35 years. It is estimated at $7,000-$10,000 USD. What great books and I loved the movies!
