Win Penguin’s new translation of Arabian Nights
I’m sure many of you will have now seen Penguin’s amazing translation of The Arabian Nights. If you check out AbeBooks.co.uk then you will see that we have one of the limited edition box-sets up for grabs.
Just released by Penguin, the three-volume set is a new translation by Malcolm and Ursula Lyons and costs £125. This translation is the first into English from Arabic since Richard Burton’s iconic translation. The books are quarter-bound, foil embossed set with bespoke slip case was designed by Penguin’s Coralie Bickford-Smith. Robert Irwin, author of Arabian Nights: A Companion, is the editor.
However we are not going to simply give these books away with some easy multiple choice question – you have to earn the book by writing a short story. In fact, your story (fiction or non-fiction) has to be exactly 1,001 words in length. I’m the judge and I’m looking for something that’s entertaining, and in the spirit of the original Arabian Nights tales.
The competition will close on January 12 so get writing. You have to be a resident of the UK to enter but it’s open to people of any age. Good luck. Click here for more details.
