Little Red Schoolbook
Our friends in the UK seem to have a taste for this little gem, making it one of the most searched for items on AbeBooks.co.uk last week. First written in Danish in 1969 the book caused a major controversy when it was translated into English in the early 70s when it was categorized under the Obscene Publications Act, and was banned in several other nations.
The Little Red Schoolbook encouraged young children to question social norms and parental authority covering ranging from sex, drugs, teachers, school exams, to discipline.
The book has been out of print since the 70s, you can pick up a first edition (from UK, NZ, or Aus) for around £50-100, but is still widely remembered having been featured on “In Living Memory” on BBC Radio 4 last year.
