The popularity of romance novels is surging through these tough economic times.
According to an article in the Vancouver Sun:
Romantic fiction is the top consumer book category, and this spring the genre will be the subject of both an academic symposium at Princeton University and an art exhibit paying tribute to romance novel cover illustrations of the last 60 years.
What are the stats supporting this claim?
Harlequin, a Toronto-based global publisher of romance novels, said operating profits were up 11 per cent in 2008, while revenue rose to $473 million.
