Gingrich recommends Bill Forstchen’s “One Second After”

Last week Kathleen posted a blurb about Bill Forstchen’s apocalyptic novel One Second After which sparked a bit of an ethics debte on our blog between a reader and Forstchen himself.

Now William Forstchen’s apocalyptic thriller (about a high-altitude nuclear bomb unleashing a deadly electromagnetic pulse that disables the electrical capacity of the United States in seconds) received a major plug from Newt Gingrich while he was speaking with Greta Van Susteren on Fox News’ On the Record. You can watch the Interview here:

GINGRICH: I think we should be very worried. My good friend and co-author Bill Forstchen just wrote a book called “One Second After,” which is a novel about what happens with an electromagnetic pulse attack.

What I want to know is why he tuned a question about national foreign policy into a plug about a science fiction book…… OH … I see … Gingrich wrote the forward for this book. I Got it now he is just ethically bankrupt and greedy…

At least his plan seems to be working, shortly after the program aired people began searching for Forstchen’s book on AbeBooks and Reading Copy.

Newt has also co-authored several other alternate history books with Forstchen including 1945 , Gettysburg, Grant Comes East, Never Call Retreat, Pearl Harbor, and Days of Infamy.
