Terry Pratchett has unveiled road names on a new housing estate in a Somerset town after they were named in honour of his fantasy land, Discworld.
Wincanton was already twinned with the fictional Discworld city of Ankh-Morpork. Now there’ll be roads called Peach Pie Street and Treacle Mine Road, reports the BBC.
How lovely! A housing developer with a sense of humour. Now Wincanton is famous for three things – Discworld roads, its horse racing course and its huge cheese factory.
Maybe more towns and cities should name streets after famous books from literature. Slough, where The Office was originally located by Ricky Gervais, could have Bomb Avenue in honour of John Betjeman.
