Stephen Kelman, A.D. Miller, Yvvette Edwards and Patrick McGuinness are all making their first appearances on a Booker longlist. There are three Canadians – Alison Pick, Patrick deWitt and Esi Edugyan. Alan Hollinghurst is the one former winner to make the list. He won in 2004 for The Line of Beauty.
The shortlist of six will be revealed on 6 September and the winner is announced on 18 October.
