Stan Barstow, English Novelist, Dies

The Guardian has a lovely obituary to English novelist Stan Barstow today, who died August 1st at age 83. Barstow was an important influence in the writing world. He was best known for his novel A Kind of Loving (1960), which was made into a 1962 film starring Alan Bates and June Ritchie. It was the first book in a trilogy, with parts two and three being The Watchers on the Shore and The Right True End.
