The film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ smash bestseller The Hunger Games is finally upon us, and will be released in most parts of the world a week from today.

If you’ve been vacationing under a rock and have not yet seen the trailer, here it is:

I’m always so wary of movie versions, particularly when becoming attached to a strong lead character such as Katniss. But having seen her heartstopping performance in Winter’s Bone, I have absolute faith that Jennifer Lawrence is a solid choice for the part.

And for goodness’ sake, if you haven’t read The Hunger Games get on it before watching the movie. If you think a week isn’t enough time, don’t sweat it – most people I know, myself included, read the first book in two days or less.
