American Harry Potter fans hoping to catch a glimpse of author JK Rowling promoting her new book in person may be disappointed. According to Entertainment Weekly’s, Shelf Life blog, Rowling, whose new book The Casual Vacancy is due out next week, will make just one U.S. appearance, at New York’s Jazz at Lincoln Center on October 16th. With room for only about 1,100 people, and each ticket coming with a free copy of the book – which Rowling will sign – this event is sure to be packed. To make it even better, Rowling will be interviewed at the event by Ann Patchett, another much-beloved author.

Tickets go on sale September 10th – I expect to hear some Emergency Room stories of badly-sprained dialing fingers.
