Best literary magazines & journals: New Yorker, Granta, Paris Review, Fiddlehead…

If you don’t read literary magazines and journals, you’re missing out on a world of fine writing. In our latest Avid Reader, my colleague Beth has assembled a list of literary magazines and journals dedicated to the art of creative writing, and the preservation and exploration of the written word. Poetry, prose, essays and more are showcased. Even as I write this, I can see various copies of Harpers, BC Bookworld and the New Yorker scattered around my desk.

Let’s remember that many famous writers found their start in literary magazines, including Roald Dahl, Shirley Jackson, Thomas Pynchon, Sylvia Plath and JD Salinger. Enjoy the list and don’t forget to add your own favorite literary magazines.
