Video spotlight shines on bookseller/poet Harry Nudel
This interesting video features AbeBooks bookseller Harry Nudel, but Harry is much more than just a book dealer as you will find out. This New York-based seller lists close to 10,000 books, including a number of very rare books at prices up to $250,000.
He talks about his early life, 40 years as a book scout, the books that really matter to him, and also his poetry writing. It’s a beautiful video and you can’t help feeling that Harry would be good company for any bibliophile.
“He seems to have never forgotten it and approached me about doing a video two or three years ago. We finally got it together this summer. I am now 67, and am pretty much myself in the video. I rather, amazingly, liked being videoed.
“I’ve pretty much sold books to anyone who is anyone in the New York downtown scene… Andy Warhol, Susan Sontag, writer and actor Taylor Mead, artist Jim Dine (a pretty steady customer) the guy who plays Kramer (actor Michael Richards) in Seinfeld, TV newscaster Walter Cronkite (for ‘you, Walter, it’s 10 per cent off’ and rock star Patti Smith (a Rimbaud bio).”
