The Orenda by Joseph BoydenThe 2013 Governor General Literary Award nominee list has been whittled down to five finalists.  The prize will be awarded to the Canadian author with the best novel of the year.  Northern favorite Joseph Boyden has received a national nod for his third book, The Orenda, but competition is stiff with Man Booker heavyweight Eleanor Catton also  in the race.

The final five:

The Orenda by Joseph Boyden
A Beautiful Truth by Colin McAdam
The Hungry Ghosts by Shyam Selvadurai
