Hemingway’s treasure trove in the cellar

It’s amazing what you can find in the cellar, especially if Ernest Hemingway used to own the house. Cuba has given electronic access to thousands of documents belonging to the writer that were found in the basement of his Cuban home. The archive includes photographs, letters, manuscripts, and an unpublished epilogue to For Whom the Bell Tolls.

Hemingway versus TS Eliot

At last, from the archives at the Heldfond Book Gallery in San Anselmo, California, two great writers go head to head. Hemingway calls Eliot a nancy boy because he writes poems about cats. He does have a point. Hemingway is always going to win although Eliot gets in a nice shotgun/mouth jibe. Poets are hopeless in a rough-house scrap.
