Story Laboratory Victoria Weekend

If you and your tot happen to be in our neck of the woods this coming weekend (May 31 – June 1) you have two chances to engage with the Story Laboratory.

Saturday, May 31st: 11-3pm at the Selkirk Waterfront Festival or
Sunday, June 1st: 12:30-2pm at AbeBooks.com Head Office just off the Bay Street Bridge on 655 Tyee

Both events are in Victoria, B.C. and are free for children five and up. All materials are provided, however pre-registration is required for Sunday June 1st. If you would like to register simply email Andrea with your child’s name(s), ages, your name, and a phone number or email that you could be reached at.

Saturday April 5th, 2008 from 10am-12pm Story Laboratory will be at The Bookworm Exchange in Seattle Wa. (4860 Rainier Ave. S 98118).

AbeBooks will be hosting a Story Laboratory book-making session this weekend at its head office in Victoria, BC, Canada.

If you have a child, and live in the Victoria area feel free to sign them up and come on down. Story Laboratory is free for children of all ages (though aimed at 3-12 year olds). Even though it is free, space is limited so registration is required. To register, please email storylaboratory@gmail.com or call AbeBooks at 475-3200.

Calling all kids, Story Laboratory in Portland Oregon

AbeBooks world famous Story Laboratory is hitting the road again, this time dropping anchor in Portland Oregon at the Wordstock literary festival. Story Laboratory will be at the festival this weekend, November 10-11, located at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, Oregon. Our booth will be in the center of the children’s section.

Story Laboratory sessions help children put their stories on to paper and then create their own book. The session attracts children between the ages of eight and 12, but any child can attend. If you live in the Portland area drop by, say hello, and create something! To see some past creations check out the Story Laboratory website

For the last three days, the Story Laboratory has helped more than 120 children write their own stories and make their own books at beautiful Granville Island during the Vancouver International Writers and Readers Festival. Here you can see kids hard at work, showing off their creations, and a couple examples of some of the fantastic books being made with the Story Laboratory! Today, we’re be holding a drop in for anyone who wants to come by and make their own masterpiece. Look for the Story Laboratory sign next to the Granville Island Waterpark!

Story Laboratory in Vancouver

If you are thinking in attending the Vancouver Writers Festival on Friday (19 Oct), look out for the AbeBooks.com Story Laboratory booth. We’ve been staging book-building workshops for children from local schools since Tuesday and Friday’s workshops are open to anyone. AbeBooks.com started the book-building program last year with a series of events at libraries in our home-town of Victoria. The Writers Festival is the Story Lab’s second appearance in Vancouver and we will also be appearing at Wordstock in Oregon next month – the time we’ve taken the Story Laboratory to the US.

Friday is also a ‘Pro D’ day in Vancouver so the Story Laboratory might be an ideal way to keep the kids busy.

The Story Laboratory, from 11am to 4pm, can be found behind the Kid’s Only Market beside the Cat’s Meow Restaurant and the Granville Island Water Park. AbeBooks.com supplies all required materials for the creation of a literary masterpiece.

My personal favourite is “Sheep’s on a Plane”
