Full green morocco with gold tooled decoration on each board, spine and along edges. Gilt lettering on spines. Raised bands. Dentelles. Marbled endpapers. Original wrappers bound in. Fabre d'Olivet claims to have found the true meaning of the Hebrew language, examines the historic course of the Hebrew people, and details their linguistic divide after the Exodus following the fall of Jerusalem. The author believes that the spirit of the Hebrew language has been lost during the Exodus, except among the Essenes, who kept an oral comprehension of Hebrew roots. Minor edge wear on slipcases, with corners and edges slightly rubbed. Very slight and sporadic rubbing along edges of bindings. Sporadic foxing throughout. Text in French with some Hebrew. Slipcases in overall good, stunning bindings in near fine, interior in very good to near fine condition.
