Scuffing and a little marking, signs of shelf-wear, particularly to upper and lower spine edges. Slightly bumped corners. Binding reasonably firm, slight slackness, some cracking to front inner hinge, some strain further in; crack between pages 304 and 305 and pages 305-18 jut out a little further than the rest of the textblock, though still attached. Page edges gilt, some scuffing and marking but gilt detail still vivid, particularly to outer and lower page edges. Gift inscription to one of front endpapers. Some foxing to page surfaces, mainly in endpapers and pages with or facing plates, but no underlining, marginalia, etc. See pictures for further information. 483 + xxviii pp. n.
