Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. BOOK DESCRIPTION: 8vo, 784 pgs, frontis, other illustrations and portraits, folding map in pocket, unit roster. Gilt stamp pebbled green cloth with gilt titled spine. CONDITION DESCRIPTION: Top of joint between spine and cover torn, light rubbing on covers and edges; Interior front hinge cracked, rear hinge solid; inked inscription to GAR Post 113 from Helen Blackman; else clean and tight. Folding map is folded as published, else near fine. With clear, mylar wrapper. CONTENTS DESCRIPTION: Chapters and articles of personal reminiscences by individual unit members tell the history of the regiment from enlistment to muster out. Very good telling of its actions. After the Battle of Antietam, it was largely an independent unit reporting directly to the headquarters of the Army of the Cumberland and was present at the battles of Stones River and Chickamauga. It fought in the Knoxville Campaign. In April 1865, the regiment helped capture General Braxton Bragg and his staff and pursued Confederate President Jefferson Davis. REFERENCE: DORN PA #101; NEVINS I pg 118: "Composed in the main of personal recollections, official correspondence, and some material from wartime writings, this is an unbalanced compilation of limited usefulness".
