Book has light soiling on the cover, interior is clean, tight and unmarked. The dust jacket has edge chipping and the front fold is missing. The book is a study of the first time in American history the Armies, Corps and Divisions operated with General Staffs functioning under modern conceptions of staff work. This treatise focused on the use of combat intelligence. Book has numerous black and white fold-out maps of various battlefields in World War I. 121 pages with the section of maps being unpaginated Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Book.

Investigation of the functions of the G-2, and explains how it works using examples from WW I; 18 fold-out sketches and one other fold-out chart; author was instructor at Command & General Staff School, Ft Leavenworth, Kansas from 1932-36; all the fold-outs are in very nice shape, except #10 which was opened poorly; there is a 6" tear along one of the sections about which 2" intrude into the sketch; however, none of the sketch is missing; on the outside margin of this same sketch there are some chips, but again, nothing of importance is missing. Signed by Capt R.K. Boyd, 38th Infantry, Nov 1940. First edition in good condition. 121p.
